Karen and John – Stunning Pendrell Hall Wedding Photography, Wolverhampton
The summer has been a whirlwind of weddings – after the postponements and cancellations of the preceding 18 months, there were so many couples desperate to finally tie the knot that I had one of the busiest and most joy-filled summers of my life! Finally, though, I’m ready to start telling you about one of the gorgeous September weddings I shot this year.
Karen and John were married at Pendrell Hall in Wolverhampton. It’s a beautiful country house venue, with six acres of gorgeous grounds for wedding guests to explore, and it’s got a really romantic atmosphere – perfect for this loved-up couple.
Karen and John had booked me after meeting me when I shot their friend’s wedding photos a couple of years previously. I love it when this happens – it means the couple know my style, and how I work, as they’ve seen me in my natural habitat before! But it’s also really lovely for me because I get to see some of my previous clients and catch up with them.
In this case, John’s friends were the same group as had been at his friend’s wedding a few years before. I knew what to expect from the day as soon as I recognized them – lots of energy, banter, and oodles of fun. They certainly didn’t disappoint!
The morning of the wedding, John’s task was to collect the orange Lamborghini that was to be their wedding car for the day. Karen had told him he should arrive at Pendrell Hall in plenty of time, so the day could run to schedule. Ideally, he’d have been nice and early… but (perhaps understandably!) John was determined to test drive the Lamborghini around the back lanes of Staffordshire – who could resist, on a beautiful September morning? There were a few panicked looks exchanged when he didn’t turn up comfortably in advance… but of course no car is enough to keep a man in love from his bride!
Pendrell Hall has got beautiful lush green grounds, and Karen and John had opted to have their wedding ceremony outdoors, which was a fabulous setting for this glamorous couple.
Following the ceremony, Karen and John had arranged for a magician to come and entertain their friends and family, as well as some drinks and canapes. These wedding guests, however, needed no help whatsoever creating a party atmosphere, as the fizz was flowing!
After some really touching speeches from John’s best man and Karen’s maid of honour, and some food to absorb all that fizz, plenty of the guests headed out into Pendrell Hall’s grounds to explore. Someone stumbled across a rope swing, perhaps placed romantically amongst the trees as a suggestion for some quiet and intimate photos of the newlyweds…however it was soon pounced upon by the partygoers who all tried their luck at some sozzled swinging – I bet there were some bruised arms and legs the next day!
The day was drawing to a closet, so I took Karen and John off for a wander in the grounds to get some shots with them. This is usually a quiet, romantic, and reflective time for the couple…but Karen and John were gatecrashed by their groomsmen and bridesmaids who all got involved, and turned this couples shoot into a big celebration of their friendship group. It felt like the perfect encapsulation of what had been a really fun-filled and energetic day.
