Phoebe and Jonathan - Sun and Games At The Granary, Fawsley wedding venue
Autumn seems to be the season that just keeps on giving and the weather for Phoebe and Johnathan’s wedding was as good as I have seen it for this time of year for quite some time. The bride and groom were set for a really amazing sunny wedding day, and I was only too happy to make sure their wedding photography captured all the fun and laughter of their very special day.
A wedding morning with a difference at The Granary at Fawsley
Now don’t get me wrong; I have photographed many wedding mornings with a twist, but this one offered something just that little bit different. It really wasn’t long before it seemed that a mini unscripted dance class was the order of the day. One of Phoebe's bridesmaids was a fitness instructor and somehow the group photo of the bridesmaids escalated into a rather lively Zumba style class with all the bridesmaids bouncing around what would eventually be the outside wedding area. This lively and completely spontaneous event really set the tone for the rest of the wedding and was a great way for everyone to relax and shake off those pre-wedding jitters.
The venue, The Granary at Fawsley, is a stunning old building with plenty of old brickwork, greenery and a real sense of space. It has a lovely outdoor area surrounded by countryside and a large number of the guests had arrived early to take advantage of the space and to have a cheeky pre-wedding beer. The vibe was a really relaxed one with the bridal party mingling freely with the guests, everyone chatting and just enjoying themselves. This was the perfect way to start a wedding, because after all, who wants to hide inside on a sunny day? I was able to get some fabulous shots of everyone enjoying the glorious weather, and I knew from there it would be a brilliant day.
A little helping hand from the Granary at Fawsley
Of course, like any wedding this one wasn’t without a few small hiccups. There was the usual wedding morning confusion that so often takes place with the groomsmen. Button holes and pins always seem to cause a bit of aggro, and to be fair they can be quite fiddly to deal with. Fortunately, the venue staff were on hand to support the process and help the groomsmen with putting the final touches to their outfits. They were soon looking as dapper as can be.
The venue's outdoor space was lovely, and soon it was time for everyone to begin taking their seats for the ceremony. Outdoor ceremonies are - as I’ve said before - a preference of mine, and this one was certainly no exception. The registrar on this occasion was particularly quirky which certainly added to the fun of the ceremony.
The drinks reception at The Granary at Fawsley
After the ceremony it was time for the drinks reception, and this gave the guests another perfect chance to relax and enjoy the sunshine. The weather really was amazing, and I knew from experience that we would soon be treated to an incredible sunset. With the venue offering some fantastic views I was certain I would be able to grab some great sunset images of the happy couple. It’s always nice to give the bride and groom a little time away from their guests for a few special wedding photos, and we certainly got some incredible shots of just the two of them.
The dancing that evening started a little sooner than most and Phoebe and Jonanthan’s guests gave every indication that they were definitely up for a party. Hours of hard core dancing followed with just a few small breaks taking fun photos in the photo booth (no competition - there’s plenty of room for both me and the booth!) ensured.
This was a wonderful, relaxed wedding that ended as it had started, with fun, laughter and plenty of love amongst the guests and wedding party.
It was a pleasure to photograph Phoebe and Johnathan’s big day, and I hope they love their wedding photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
