Danielle and Steven, Bredenbury Court Barns Wedding Photography
Easter’s always a busy wedding period because of all those glorious bank holidays, and I was so happy to get back into the Easter groove this year after two very abnormal years. Wise wedding couples love this long weekend because there’s plenty of time for prep, partying, and recovery!
The lovely Danielle and Steven got married on Easter Sunday at Bredenbury Court Barns in the West Midlands. Located in a beautiful part of the world between Hereford and Gloucester, Bredenbury is a lovely venue that brings all that rustic charm with a little bit of elegant glam, too – perfect for Danielle and Steven.
When I arrived at Bredenbury Court to start taking pictures of the bridal prep, there was a whole lot going on! Danielle and her bridesmaid had both got their children in tow, and Danielle’s nan was there, along with Steven’s mum. The little ones were enjoying their fruit juice from champagne flutes while the adults got their glam on, and there were lots of lovely warm family moments being shared all around. It was triple excitement for the kids – not just the wedding, but holidays and easter eggs too! I definitely could feel myself getting caught up in all the sugar-fueled fun.
When Steven and his groomsmen arrived, they’d clearly managed to forget that Easter means holidays for most of us, and they hadn’t been able to get the slap-up breakfast they’d been planning because all the breakfast spots they’d been eyeing up turned out to be closed! So the group had had to swap their poached eggs and avocado for a Maccy D’s in the car on the way…not quite as glam, but still good for lining the stomach.
Steven had four groomsmen, all very well turned out in their tuxedos and extremely punctual – so punctual, in fact, that I think they were at a loss for things to do for quite some time before the ceremony began! Bredenbury Court and Daniella’s florists had done an absolutely incredible job with the venue, decking it out with so many beautiful blooms, all throughout the ceremony room and the dining area. It was really a gorgeous sight, especially the huge flower arch that had been put together especially for the day.
Following a lovely ceremony, the guests headed outside into the blazing sunshine for some spirited confetti throwing and a big group photo before they all got stuck into the bar! Younger guests let off some steam by running around Bredenbury Court’s lawns, and the grown ups had an opportunity to catch up with each other (and running around for those that wanted to!)
Steven and his brother, who acted as his best man, were both filled with nerves ahead of their speeches. But they each did a genuinely fantastic job, with both full of love, humour, and authenticity. It was really clear how much genuine connection there was between the two of them, and of course between the bride and groom too. There were plenty of stories from misspent youth and loads of smiles amongst the guests.
Steven and Danielle had warned me that although they wanted some pictures together in my usual documentary style, they’d always been terrible at posing for pictures, to the point where even their own children took the mick out of how awkward the two of them looked in one another’s company! I was braced for the worst…but (perhaps it was the champagne) they totally pulled it out the bag and managed to really relax and let go of their self consciousness, so I was able to get some lovely shots of the two of them really enjoying being in each other’s arms and sharing their special moments together.
Soon, it was dancefloor time! This is one of my favourite parts of any wedding, especially if there’s live music involved, because after the booze has been flowing for a while everyone is super relaxed and ready to let their hair down. Danielle and Steven’s guests did not disappoint, and a fantastic live band ensured that everybody got out there and shook their stuff.
