The Malvern Lakehouse Wedding Photography

Maria and Matt’s Malvern Lakehouse Wedding photography - Relaxation, Fun and Family

Chilled vibes, and stunning grounds - Malvern Lakehouse

I was over the moon when Matt and Maria contacted me to book their wedding photography, especially when I heard what they had planned. They had decided to book a large Airbnb where all of the close family and friends could stay for three nights, and this sounded like the perfect way to enjoy a weekend wedding.

Whilst they wanted a wedding that was a more relaxed yet formal affair, they had decided to take a little risk and Matt’s brother was conducting the ceremony. I must confess, this is a personal touch that I love and have seen become more and more popular in recent years . The risk was that this would not only be the first wedding that he would have conducted but also the first wedding that he had ever attended (GULP!). This added just a hint of excitement to the wedding, along with a tiny bit of anxiety for the bride and groom, but they were keen to have Matt's brother  involved.

The Morning Preparations – Relaxed and Laid Back

On arriving for the wedding I was greeted by Matt who showed me around the stunning wedding venue that they had created for their special weekend. The venue itself was beautiful, the grounds amazing and there was even an idyllic lake - perfect for some outdoor wedding photography. The added bonus was the beautiful vineyard (I know!). This was a venue that had it all. From my perspective as a wedding photographer it was perfect, and I could see just how fantastic it would be..

I met Matt’s brother, and we talked over the structure for the ceremony. He seemed a little nervous, but I had a real feeling that it was all going to be ok and this wedding was going to be something particularly special.

Some of the family were already playing garden games, giving a real sense of the relaxed day that would soon unfold. Others were strolling around the grounds taking some of their own pictures.

Bridal Preparations, and Preparing for the Ceremony

For Maria and her bridesmaid, the morning was one of relaxation and a bit of gossip. The view from her room was the ideal spot for sipping champagne, “spying” on the guests and having a good chat.

The guests began to arrive, bringing with them an unwelcome addition in the form of some rather large rain clouds. After a quick check the decision was made to move the wedding forward by 15 minutes; something that is easily done with a relaxed ceremony like this and was very much appreciated in this case!.

The decision proved to be a good one. We ended up with a completely dry ceremony and the rain held off just until it was finished. Matt’s brother totally smashed his role as officiant too. The service was brilliant, and goodness knows how he will be able to top that when he officiates his second wedding!

After the Rain, the Party

The ceremony complete, the guests headed for the cover of the marquee where there was plenty of stunning Greek food laid out. The outdoor garden games had become indoor ones and as the drink flowed so too did the competitive nature of some of the guests! Maria’s father proved his bean bag throwing skills were first rate and he definitely came out on top there!

Despite what might have seemed like the largest table of Greek canapes imaginable, there was more food to come, and the guests were quickly seated for the main dishes.

The wedding party had decided to keep their speeches to a minimum to continue the relaxed vibe that they had envisioned for the day, although the father of the bride still managed to squeeze an embarrassing speech into the proceedings (well done, sir!).

Sunset Photography and Pyjama Time

By now the sun had come out and the lighting was perfect for some lakeside sunset wedding photography, which went even better than I’d envisioned. Then, it was back to the lawn for more outdoor games. Some guests decided to take part in their PJs, which felt like the perfect way to end what had been the perfect, relaxed, anything goes wedding day.

I was really proud to be a small part of what was such a brilliant day for Maria, Matt and all their guests, and I really hope they love their wedding photographs as much as I enjoyed capturing them!
