THE WEDDING OF LAUREN AND ALISTAIR AT CIDER MILL BARNS, STRATFORD-UPON-AVON - CIDER MILL BARNS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

WINTER WEDDING WONDERLAND WEDDINGS

Lauren and Alistair met me at a wedding fair, where they explored all options for their upcoming big day.

One of their biggest stumbling blogs had been finding a photographer that specialised in winter weddings, which I was pleased to tell them, is one of my favourite seasons for unique and spectacular photos.

Lots of couples shy away from colder seasons, due to shorter days, challenging weather and often fewer outdoor options.

Thankfully Lauren and Alistair were set on their plan and I was thrilled to be a key part of their big day; using my expertise in winter wedding photography to make the most of unique opportunities for the winter sun and cosy wedding vibes.

IT'S ALL IN THE PREPARATION

Lauren’s bridal party was made up of four bridesmaids and her Mum. All were just as excited as each other and there was great energy and excitement as the ladies got ready for Lauren’s big day.

The room was filled with laughter and there were a few giggles as Lauren’s Dad kept trying to get access to the room, even though he had been strictly barred from that part of the day.

Lauren’s Dad managed to be part of the morning regardless, posting a very emotional tribute to Lauren on Facebook, which Mum read aloud and had us all (myself included) super emotional.

Eventually, Lauren’s Dad was allowed to see the final look and this moment was beautiful for all involved. Cue more tears and a little more time to reset their makeup.

Alistair and Lauren had booked a second photographer for their day, which not only means they can capture guests arriving, but I can also get great shots of both the bride and groom getting ready separately, but in the same time frame.

Groom prep is different to bridal, usually, it takes slightly less time for one thing. However, there were still just as many laughs to be had as Alistair and his closest friends enjoyed breakfast and lots of banter.

This moment was fun to be part of and a great way to get to know the key people on this special day ahead.

THE BIG DAY. DID LAUREN GET TO THE CHURCH ON TIME?

As the day moved forward, we all arrived at Church and were greeted by the super friendly Vicar, who was very happy for us to take photos in and around the church, as well as get up close at the front action.

He had a great philosophy on weddings and the day being centred around the couple and helping them to get a record of this really special day.

I couldn’t agree more, and a massive part of my job is to make sure we get photographs to reflect all of these unique moments.

One of these such moments was the Bride’s late arrival, in true wedding fashion, keeping Alistair nervously waiting up front. Fortunately, he managed to style this out with only a few tears on Lauren’s arrival at the alter.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE DAY

There were so many highs to this day it's hard to choose a single one.

For me, the best moments are in capturing the absolute joy felt for the new couple and their union.

Many moments reflected this for Lauren. One, in particular, was with her Mum and a beautiful moment between them at the very beginning of this day.

My favourite moment of the day belonged to Alfie though (the third member of the family, Alistair and Lauren's beloved dog) when he helped himself to the canapes during the drinks reception.

Other notable moments were the happy, giddy, smiles on the guest's faces during the reception and evening party. Especially during the Ceilidh when many dizzy people were being spun around the dancefloor.

It was great to see such a buzz in the room, and I really recommend live music for setting this fun tone for all involved in the wedding.

Congratulations to Lauren and Alistair and thank you for letting me be part of such a fantastic day.
