The Wedding of Emma and Daniel at Cripps Barn, Cirencester, Cripps Barn Wedding Photography

Highly Recommended Wedding Photogrpaher - Cripps Barn Wedding Photography

It’s got to be one of the best feelings I get as a Photographer when a new booking arrives from a couple I've already met at a previous wedding.

I was honoured to know that Emma and Daniel chose me as their wedding photogrpaher  on the back of time spent with me at their friends' weddings a few years ago. Emma was a Bridesmaid at that wedding and I was able to match the style of photographs she wanted for her special day.

Emma and Daniel's day started with big smiles all around and there was such a happy buzz in the bridal prep cottage, which made it even more special because I soon recognised a few more familiar faces in Emma's parents and Bridesmaid Charmaine. The world of weddings is super small.

Bridal prep is such a fun part of the day, with a good mix of friends, family and various professionals working hard to get everyone ready.

This occasion was made even more entertaining because the Makeup Artist decided she would do makeup in the bathroom, meaning my best shots were taken standing on the toilet and sinking into the bath. Oh yes, there are not many places I won't get into if it means I get that perfect picture.

One of the most entertaining parts of the morning was the hilarious situation surrounding Emma and her Bridesmaids opening a bottle of champagne and the fear on their faces at the thought of having to open the bottle. I captured some great expressions as they passed the bottle between themselves.

The Magic of a Wedding Dress

We are all very aware of the pull of a wedding dress.

The excitement of choosing it, the decision of who will see's it beforehand, the question of how will it make you feel? The classic phenomenon of a Bride in a wedding dress can never be underestimated, and trust me, it is proper magic.

Emma’s moment was everything I expected and then some more. It began with the big reveal to her Dad and it was incredible to catch such an emotional moment between Dad and Daughter, Even though I see this moment regularly, it is still one of my favourite moments of the day.
Something especially noteworthy was the unique moment when Emma put on her dress, which as we all know, is expected to be super poignant for any Bride.

The difference here was that I genuinely don’t think I’ve ever noticed any other Bride move to the level of love that Emma had when she put on her dress.
The confidence and the way she felt about her dress packed such a punch, and you could see this in every photo taken that day. Emma moved around with supreme confidence and it was so good to see how amazing she felt.

The Big Wedding Wait

Humour plays an important part in the ‘Big Day’ and there was a poignant funny moment when guests were waiting for the bridal party to arrive at the wedding venue.

I felt for the Groom at this point because due to the choice of the Bride's vehicle, a vintage Rolls Royce, it was a longer and more nervous wait than expected. On reflection that car was so much slower than expected.

For me, the situation was perfect because it meant I arrived well ahead of the Bridal party. This gave more opportunities to photograph the guests as they excitedly chatted and mingled outside the barn, all in anticipation of Emma's arrival.

This is a great time to capture the real spirit of the day, as well as record Daniel, the Groom, soaking it all up. Yet another great moment to photograph and I love being able to capture the range of emotions and thoughts a Groom goes through before the wedding ceremony begins.

Perfect Bridesmias !!!

After this, it was showtime, and the Bridesmaids arrived to walk down the aisle with their beaming smiles.

Usually, Bridesmaids are distracted looking at their partners or friends sitting in the aisles, which makes getting good photos a bit difficult.

Not this time! This group were amazing and had taken on board the mini-training session we had back in the Bridal prep room. It was fantastic to get some brilliant photographs before the Bride, Emma, made her big entrance.
The ceremony, as always, was moving, peppered with golden moments where we got some big laughs and touching tears from Emma.

Perfect Day for A Wedding

Next up we moved outside into the September sunshine, there was a really lovely autumn breeze and everyone was buzzing to celebrate Emma and Daniel’s union.

People were grinning, confetti was thrown, and you could just tell by the palpable high energy that it was going to be a day to remember.
From here we moved on to the wedding breakfast and Emma was kind enough to include me in the food and drinks, this is never assumed, but it is always really touching to be included and allows me to connect with guests before the evening ahead.

The Killer Wedding Speech

Being amidst the guests is also a great chance to capture the speeches which usually follow the format: Dad being emotional, Groom being gracious and Best Man entertaining.

These speeches followed the standard, with particular focus being on the Best Man and his crucifixion of the Groom. This doesn't always happen, but thankfully it was delivered with just about the right level of wit and the Best Man had everyone in stitches.

A Special Evening of Wedding Fun

There were so many highlights to this day it's hard to choose one at a single moment.

Another of my favourites is the golden hour when the day is in full swing and the sunset spreads this epic light everywhere.

At this point, alcohol was free flowing and Emma made it her moment to throw her bouquet to lots of tipsy females. It's always a great photo to take, all the women poised to catch and all their partners watching anxiously…

The day ended with an epic party, sparkler tunnel and an amazing live band, interspersed with a DJ. The whole dance floor was full, perhaps due to the generous free bar, but also most definitely due to the happy vibe filling the room.

Congratulations to Emma and Daniel and thank you for letting me be part of such a fantastic day.
