Tipi Wedding in Banbury - Briony and Scott’s Day - Banbury Wedding Photography

Wedding Morning Fun

I first met Briony and Scott at a wedding fair and heard all about their plans to have a Tipi wedding in their family home.  Tipi weddings are increasing in popularity as couples look to  have a more outdoorsy chilled out vibe for their wedding celebrations.

On the day, I headed over to Briony’s mum’s house in Cherrington to catch up with Briony and her bridal party.  Everybody was on top form and things were looking organised with co-ordinated PJ’s, a platter brunch, some bubbly, lots of giggles and some hen do inuendo.  I got some great images.

I then headed to the pub to find Scott and his grooms party who were having a cheeky pint before getting ready.  As a joke, Scott had some shot glasses filled with water and sent an image to Briony telling her that they were on sambucas.

By now, Briony was ready and looked amazing. I captured some special reveal moments, firstly of the father seeing the bride, and then the rest of the bridal party.

Off to the Church - Time to get married.

The wedding was being held in St John the Baptists Church in Banbury and Briony travelled in style with her dad in his gorgeous classic sports car.  This handsome catholic church has an impressive façade and beautiful interiors that made a gorgeous backdrop in my ceremony images.

After a beautiful ceremony, everybody headed outside and despite the rain there was a fun confetti moment with umbrellas, before the couple got waved off my all their guests.

Everybody then headed to Scott’s family home for the reception, with Briony and Scott travelling in style in that gorgeous red classic sports car.

The tipi’s looked amazing all dressed and ready for the reception.  They were of such good quality that once inside the rain wasn’t a problem at all.  There were long trestle tables, nets of fairy lights along the sides and beautiful floral arrangements.

Children had their own mini marquee with an entertainment station as well as their own menu and an entertainer during the speeches - so they had very little time for their parents.  The children at Briony and Soctt’s wedding had the best time and I got some really fun images of them playing.

Everybody enjoyed a drinks reception and were entertained by a live three-piece band with a singer.  I took my chance to get some great candid images of guests just happily mingling and enjoying drinks.  There was a brief pause in the rain and I used it to get some great outdoor images of Briony, Scott and their wedding party.

Everybody then enjoyed a delicious three course wedding breakfast followed by some very well received speeches.

At this point the rain stopped again, so I whisked Briony and Scott away for a few minutes.  We walked down to Briony’s horses and got some really great images with them.  As we walked back the sun was starting to set creating a soft hazy glow that was perfect for romantic portrait images.  And I was thrilled with the images we got.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a delicious looking wedding cake followed by a romantic first dance for Briony and Scott.  There was a live band who quickly filled the dancefloor.  Not that they had to work hard at coaxing everybody onto the dancefloor, Briony and Scott’s guests were definitely up for a party.

Briony and Scott were always clear that they wanted some great pictures of the evening party images, so I got onto the dancefloor myself and got some really fun images.

A wonderfully fun family-friendly Tipi wedding full of love and laughter.  Congratulations to Briony and Scott you and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of your day.  I loved it!
