Donington Park Farmhouse wedding photographer - Philipa and Simon's Wedding day

Morning Preparations at Donington Park

Philipa and Simon's wedding at Donington Park Farmhouse was full of energy right from the start. As soon as I arrived, I knew it was going to be one of those unforgettable, high-spirited days. Philipa was absolutely bouncing with excitement, and the banter between her and her maid of honor was pure comedy gold.

Poor Simon, though had became the morning's punchline. Known for being super organised, the wedding day pressure must have gotten to him because he forgot his shirt! That’s definitely something Philipa will remind him of for years to come. While the girls sipped bubbly and had a blast, Simon was doing what Simon does best organising everything around the venue (or at least that's the story I'll always tell).

Philipa had arranged thoughtful gifts for Simon that morning, and although we didn’t get any tears, the room was filled with raw emotion. Back with the girls, Philipa was ready to reveal her dress, and her son who would later walk her down the aisle was the first to see her. That moment between mother and son was genuinely touching.

Time to get Marrried

As Philipa met with the registrar, I made my way back to the barn where guests were already seated. The atmosphere was buzzing with laughter and joy. Simon was patiently waiting on  his bride running late. I captured some fantastic shots of guests laughing, which perfectly reflected the tone of the day.

The ceremony was truly lovely, filled with lots of laughter and smiles from Philipa and even some surprise tears from Simon. But what really stole the show was the priceless expression on Philipa's son’s face when he handed Simon the ring. It was like the moment he realised his mum was actually getting married.

Party time and Stunning Sunsets at Donington Park

After the ceremony, the fun continued with a joyful confetti throw before guests mingled at a lively drinks reception. Philipa had even arranged for content creators to capture the day, and everyone was having a blast making wedding day TikToks. The couple also rented my vlog cameras, and I can’t wait to see all the footage the guests captured.

As the drinks reception reached its peak, I whisked the couple away for sunset photos. The sky was breathtaking with  shades of blue, red, and yellow absolutely perfect for capturing some stunning shots of Philipa and Simon.

Back inside the barn, after surviving the cold, it was time for food and speeches. Philipa’s son kicked things off with a heartfelt speech, followed by Philipa herself, the best man, and Simon. Together, they created a perfect mix of humour  and emotional stories, one major revelations including the fun fact that Philipa might be a bit messy. Luckily, Simon seems to be the tidy one!

The evening entertainment was top tier, with blackjack and roulette tables that were a huge hit. Watching guests get emotionally excited, cheering like they’d won real money was absolutely hilarious. It’s definitely an evening idea I’d recommend for weddings.

As the chips ran out and the drinks flowed, the dance floor came alive. Seeing Philipa’s glowing, ever smiling face as she danced the night away felt like the perfect way to wrap up an incredible day.
