Steve and Josie's – Stunning Wethele Manor Wedding Photography, Leamington Spa
Today I’ve got a really touching Warwickshire wedding to tell you all about, filled with nostalgia and joy! Let’s get stuck in to Josie and Steve’s wedding day.
With her best friend from school, Josie got ready in her childhood bedroom. Whenever this happens with brides it’s always so much fun, because a childhood bedroom gives you such an insight into the bride’s personality, and what they were like growing up. Josie’s room was filled with little relics and mementoes from her early years, including her china doll collection, her dance shoes, and a rocking horse in the corner. It was a beautiful bedroom, and a really touching setting for her to get ready for the next chapter of her life.
In fact, Josie’s family home would have made a perfect wedding venue! However, with the idea of 100 wedding guests knocking back the fizz and showering confetti over the place perhaps a less than attractive prospect to her parents, Josie and Steve were actually married in a local Kenilworth church before heading off for their reception at Wethele Manor in a vintage Rolls Royce.
The weather pulled out all the stops for them and it was a gorgeous sunny and warm day in the Leamington Spa when the wedding guests arrived at Wethele Manor. Wethele Manor is a beautiful setting for a wedding – it’s grand but cosy, impressive but charming, and they’ve got weddings down to a T. The rambling roses were out and the whole grounds were at their glorious summer best for Josie and Steve’s guests to enjoy their fizz and canapes.
In fact, the food was a huge hit for all the wedding guests! I observed one peckish guest not-so-subtly manoeuvre themselves into the path of the circulating canapes on several occasions – he must have had enough mini sausages for a small family. The ribs served up at dinner did cause a few concerns for the pastel-coloured bridesmaid dress, but fortunately there were no sauce related incidents to report. Phew!
It was all necessary, though, because energy levels had to be kept high for the big game! That’s right, Josie and Steve pulled off what many would consider an absolute dream scenario and staged a big game of footie at their wedding! The two sides were made up of the bride’s family and the groom’s family, but don’t worry – as old friends, this was more of a friendly rivalry than a grudge match. That certainly didn’t dampen the competitive nature of some of the wedding guests, however, as we saw sliding tackles in three-piece-suits, bone-crunching moments, volleys from the halfway line – the works. It was like being back in the school playground where they’d first met across a pitch, and you could see the sheer joy and elation on the faces of the players. Such a treat!
For the slightly more sedate amongst the guests, there was some crazy golf, so several rounds were played before the sun began to go down. And what a sunset. Wethele Manor must have the luckiest setting in Leamington Spa because the sunsets there are always spectacular, and Josie and Steve’s wedding day was no exception. The skies were absolutely stunning, and with that gorgeous glow in the evening light, I was able to get some beautiful shots of the newlyweds.
Congrats Josie and Steve!
