Harry and Laamia - Tripple ceremony Compton Veerney Wedding, Compton Verney Wedding Photography
Harry and Laamia got married at the beautiful Compton Verney in Warwickshire, 9 miles from Stratford upon Avon, and just down the road from the beautiful village of Kineton.
Compton Verney is a beautiful local venue – a gorgeous Georgian stately home set in 120 acres of Capability Brown parkland, hiding a stunning art gallery inside. Everywhere at Compton Verney is picturesque –the 5-minute stroll from the car park to the gallery is one of the most breathtaking walks in Warwickshire. It’s a fabulous venue and was a great choice for Harry and Laamia.
There was lots going on at Harry and Laamia’s wedding – dress changes, various different parts of the ceremony – so it was important that we stuck to the schedule! The couple had two photographers in for the day, as there was so much to capture, one with the bride and one with the groom. I spent the morning with Harry, who had a much easier job getting ready than Laamia, who was undergoing a hair, make up, and jewellery transformation. Meanwhile, Harry was relaxing with his brother, and got to put his feet up while we got to know one another.
Harry and Laamia had known from the start that they wanted to have a more personal, private reveal to one another than the traditional end-of-the-aisle surprise. It’s becoming a more common request for me to receive, and it’s lovely when couples get to share a more peaceful moment together without the gaze of their family and friends adding to the nerves.
Wedding Ceremony number one, the Nikkah Ceremony Compton Verney
The first set of clothes that they wore was especially for the Nikkah ceremony. Both Harry and Laamia looked beautiful in their traditional clothing, and we chose a spot in Compton Verney’s courtyard for the pictures. By this time, Harry’s nerves were starting to rise a bit, as his chilled out morning was drawing to a close. Laamia, meanwhile, was buzzing with the excitement of seeing her groom, and for the two or three steps before she reached Harry, she couldn’t help but show off the most radiant smile. When Harry turned and saw his bride, his excitement and amazement was apparent.
After sharing this beautiful moment, Laamia and Harry went indoors to the gallery for the Nikkah ceremony, which they shared with a small group of family members. I love taking pictures in the galleries at Compton Verney, with the artworks making a dramatic and unusual backdrop, and they were the perfect setting for this intimate ceremony.
We took a few more images before it was time for a change of clothes, and although many people might feel disappointed at the prospect of rain on their wedding day, Harry and Laamia was testament to the fact that it just doesn’t matter! They didn’t let the rain dampen their spirits, and they shared some lovely moments as they headed back to prepare for the next part of the day.
It was at this point that I got to spend a little bit more time with Harry’s dad, who, it quickly became clear, was a real party animal! He was cracking open the champagne and doling out some words of married wisdom – cue lots of eyerolls from Harry.
Two more Wedding Ceremonies a change of clothes and some champagne.
After an outfit change, we took some more pictures in a different part of Compton Verney’s courtyard, and the looks of love passing between the bride and groom truly warmed my heart, despite the rain coming down.
As the wedding party headed up to Compton Verney’s own chapel, Harry and Laamia spent a few minutes away from the crowd, in the nearby meadow, to share their private vows with one another. I thought this was a lovely thing to do, bringing the focus of the wedding back to the promises made between two people, and it’s no surprise that Harry and Laamia found it so moving.
Joining their guests in the chapel shortly after, Harry and Laamia enjoyed their public ceremony with beaming smiles on their faces. I love the Compton Verney chapel because the seating for the congregation faces inwards – a real dream scenario for a photographer! It’s a lovely moment to get some shots of the guests mingling and excitedly chatting before the big, official moments. The chapel is all white décor on the inside, and flooded with light, so it’s a fabulous setting for pictures and a dramatic and romantic place for a wedding ceremony. Following the ‘I do’s, it was time for a big confetti throw and a stroll to a nearby marquee for drinks and canapes.
Thankfully at this point, the rain had stopped, so the guests could continue chatting and enjoying their drinks without having to hide beneath the canvas! Harry and Laamis both work as doctors, so there was a large medical contingent of friends at the wedding who definitely were of the ‘work hard, play hard’ persuasion.
As Harry, Laamia and I headed off to explore Compton Verney’s beautiful grounds, the sun even tentatively peeped a few rays out, and I was delighted to get a few sunshiney pictures at the lakeside and on the gallery’s beautiful bridge.
Shortly after, it was time for dinner, and the couple got to take a little well-earned time to sit back and enjoy their food, chat to their guests, and relax a little. Harry’s dad had the room in stitches with his speech, and with all the formal parts of the day over, Laamia, Harry, and their guests were able to begin to let their hair down a little more.
As the light drew to a close, we headed back out into Compton Verney’s courtyard to enjoy some drinks. With the building and the portico columns dramatically floodlit, it was the perfect grand setting in which to end this special day.
