A Sunny summer wedding at Walton Hall - Walton Hall Wedding Photography

Kay and Eliot were married at the very grand Walton Hall in Warwickshire, not far from Wellesbourne, back on August bank holiday weekend. Walton Hall is a lovely venue, looking out over a huge lake, and it’s ideally located for couples in Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, and Leamington Spa, as it’s just off the M40 and not far from Wariwckshire and the surrounding countys. I’ve shot there a few times and I’m always happy to be back.

The day got off to an energetic start, as Kay and her bridal party were getting ready with their young children, who were full of the excitement of the day (and possibly a bit of sugar, too!) and having the time of their lives with all the glitz and glamour going on around them. There was plenty of champagne for the grown ups, and Kay was able to enjoy a few glasses to help with those pre-wedding nerves.

Walton Halls Stunning Ceremony Room

Kay and Eliot had gone to a lot of trouble to decorate the ceremony room at Walton Hall, and their efforts had really paid off because the room looked beautiful – a long white carpet, cherry blossom décor – so Kay’s entrance in her bridal gown was a special and stunning moment. Following a moving ceremony, it was time to head out into the sun and relax.

The weather in late August was absolutely beautiful, and Kay and Eliot had prepared for the sunshine by arranging lots of garden games for their guests to enjoy out in Walton Hall’s grounds. Walton Hall is perfect for this, as the ceremony room leads directly out into the beautiful grounds, and the guests certainly got stuck in, with a tug of war and limbo dancing getting ever more competitive as the drinks flowed! Who’d have thought a bean bag could provide so much entertainment…

Fun and Games on the grounds of Walton Hall

Kay works as a nurse, and Eliot is a powerlifter, so the wedding was heavily populated by medics and muscle men! Wanting to make the most of their abilities, Eliot’s groomsmen flexed for some group shots and effortlessly hoisted the happy couple into the air. I could have joined in too, of course, except I was holding my camera…

Before long it was time for the wedding breakfast back in Walton Hall’s beautiful interior, and with the sun streaming in it was lovely to see so much happiness and laughter at every table – exactly what a wedding should be.

But the garden games weren’t finished with yet! The group headed outside to have another crack at the games, and I managed to tear Kay and Eliot away from the competition to get some shots of the newlyweds against the beautiful late summer sunset. Those Walton Hall grounds really came into their own as the sun started dipping lower, and the light through the grass was just perfect.

All that fizz was catching up with the guests, who moved from garden games to photobooth, which was cleverly positioned right on the dancefloor, so the it really felt that the party spirit was in full swing, with guests shaking their thing for the camera.

Eliot and his friends let their hair down and enjoyed a few cigars as the warm summer night closed in, and I’m sure there were a few sore heads the next morning – but that’s a sign of a wonderful wedding!
