Loughborough Wedding Photography – Beth and Rob’s Day

Wedding Photography at Jason Works

I loved capturing Beth and Rob’s Loughborough wedding at Jason Works.  This uber cool and quirky Manhattan loft vibes wedding venue made a change from my usual country house and barn wedding venues in the countryside.

On the day, I got to the venue early to catch up with Rob and his groomsmen who had been tasked with pulling strings of twinkly lights through the ceiling.  It was a change from the usual pre drinks and faffing with ties and cufflinks that I’m used to and tells you something of the DIY nature of Jason Works weddings.

Beth and her bridal party were getting ready in an adjoining room, and had duties of their own as they were in charge of signage and the cake table.  The cake table was an epic display of cakes, cookies and all manner of sweet treats.  It looked so delicious that I knew that I couldn’t have been trusted with the task of setting it up!

The wedding ceremony was held at Loughborough Registry Office and was just for close family and friends.  Since lockdown, I’ve noticed that having a smaller more intimate family-based ceremony and meal is a popular choice for many couples.  Then having a big celebration in the evening where all your friends join you.  And let’s face it, when it comes to your friends, you all just want the party!

Beth looked amazing in her elegant dress, her bridesmaids wore bright dresses with bouquets with pops of colour.  My editing style is all about strong colours so I was in my element.  Rob and his groomsmen looked very smart in traditional black tie (though Rob’s bowtie was red)

The ceremony felt very personal to Beth and Rob and the emotion in the room was palpable.

After the ceremony, we all stepped outside to glorious sunshine and enjoyed a fun confetti moment.

The small party of wedding guests then headed to a restaurant just around the corner to enjoy a delicious meal and some very well received speeches.

Then it was on to Jason Works for the larger celebration, with many of the guests already there and waiting to welcome the newlyweds.  Beth and Rob made quite the entrance wearing sunglasses and skipping and dancing into the room.

Storytelling wedding photography in Loughborough

Jason Works is perfect for a party, the large open plan space has distinctive ceiling beams and a show stopping low hanging chandelier.  It has worn-in wooden floors, a cute terrace and oversized windows that offer great views of Loughborough and flood the space with tons of natural light.  Light that I played with to create even more beautiful images.

Though the feature that impressed me most were the secret beds under the floorboards, so that when guests were all partied out, they could just crash and sleep right there!

Rob and his best man/brother did another speech, Rob’s was emotional and his bestsman’s was emotional and funny.

For food there was tasty pizza, and if you think pineapple on a pizza is controversial, then hear this.  This crazy lot were eating grapes on a pizza!  We’re just going to have to park that one there and have the discussion another time!

With guests happily catered for, I whisked Beth and Rob away for a few minutes for a mini sunset photoshoot.  We were essentially in a workspace above a carpark, so I had to think creatively.  I knew that mixing the hard lines of the urban architecture with the soft light of the sunset could create something special.  And I got some really atmospheric images that I know Beth and Rob would love.

We then headed back inside as it was time to dance.  Beth and Rob got the proceedings going, though their guests were itching to join them on the dancefloor.  And it wasn’t long before they were packed in and all cutting their finest shapes.  And I had the best time capturing some fantastic dancefloor images.

For my last image of the day, I wanted something special.  So, I quickly took Beth and Rob outside with a couple of bottles of bubbly.  We fizzed them up and opened them Formula One style and the image was amazing.  The perfect one to close the story of Beth and Rob’s day.
