Bourton Hall Wedding Photographer - Jane and Gareth’s Day

I knew I was going to love capturing Jane and Gareth’s wedding the second I met them ( well virtually met them ) .  They are so lovely, fun and chilled out and were really keen to make me a part of their day.  On the day, I headed Bourton Hall and caught up with Gareth and his groom’s party.  There was much excitement as Gareth had hired a fancy sports car for the day.

I know nothing about cars but Gareth got me involved and I’m pleased to say that both me and the car are still in one piece.   I got some great images of Gareth and his grooms party all chilling and posing by the car and I even got included in the obligatory groomsmen breakfast of a Peroni and a bacon roll.

Jane and her bridal party then arrived and the excitement level went up a notch.  Jane was rocking a white jogging suit; her bridal party were in pink jogging suits.  They grabbed their dresses and refreshments out of their cars and settled themselves in to Bourton Hall’s light and spacious bridal suite.  This room is enormous and was plenty big enough to accommodate the entire bridal party, the make-up artist, visiting family members and me, the most unobtrusive wedding photographer in Warwickshire!

Now I have captured a lot of bridal preparation images before, but I can’t remember any as groups being as joyful as Jane’s bridal party.  The smiles and laughter were constant.  They were a joy to photograph.

Now, it’s not unusual for the bride and groom to do a present swap on the morning of their wedding.  What is unusual is for the bride and groom to unknowingly buy one another the same gift.  Both bought the other a frame signed with wording on it, though Gareth’s one for Jane was significantly bigger.  It was a funny moment when they both realised.

Jane looked amazing in a strapless dress, I think Gareth must of commited on this around 80 times before speeches :)

Before heading downstairs to the ceremony, I captured a wonderful reveal moment for Jane’s mum and the bridesmaids and Jane’s dad which was very sweet and emotional.

The wedding ceremony was held in Bourton Hall’s chapel.  And I caught up with Gareth and his grooms party who were in there waiting for the ceremony to start.  Gareth was standing at the alter clearly a little nervous but was in the safe hands of his best man who was keeping Gareth’s nerves in check.  Jane was walked down the aisle by her father and her son which was lovely.

After a really lovely ceremony, everybody headed outside for a fun confetti moment. As it was a glorious June day, drinks and canapes were served outside in the gardens.  And I took my chance to get some great images of the wedding party on Bourton Hall’s immaculate lawns.

I just want to mention Jane and Gareth’s wedding guests, that were great.  They were so happy and chilled out I got some really good images of them just mingling, playing garden games and soaking up the sunshine.  They were the perfect match for my style of documentary wedding photography.

At one point in the drink’s reception, Jane and Gareth took themselves off for a little wander on their own.  I always love to see couples taking a moment for themselves on their wedding day.  Their wander led them back to the sports car so I couldn’t resist getting a couple of images of them in the car.

The wedding breakfast was held in Bourton Hall’s banqueting suite.  A chandeliered room with elegant period plasterwork and large windows offering views across the rolling Warwickshire countryside.  Guests were seated first so that Jane and Gareth could receive a raucous welcome from everybody!

Guests then enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast prepared by Bourton Hall’s in-house team of talented chefs.  Next were the speeches, and Donna, the duty manager, got up to announce the speeches by tapping a glass with a knife (as I’ve seen her do many times before) but this time the glass smashed.  Everybody found it hilarious.

The speeches were brilliant.  Jane’s dad’s speech was both emotional and funny.  Gareth and his best man’s speeches were also funny and Jane’s daughter did a speech to thank Gareth for looking after them which was so sweet that it left everybody in tears.

After the meal, as guests happily milled about enjoying exclusive use of Bourton Hall.  I quickly whisked Jane and Gareth outside for a romantic sunset photoshoot around the gardens and grounds.  We got some amazing images that I know Jane and Gareth are thrilled with.  Here, take a look!

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a three-tiered wedding cake, followed by a romantic first dance.  This all took place at the bottom of Bourton Hall’s central wood carved staircase.  With guests watching from the stairs and throwing confetti from above.  It was a great moment that made for a perfect wedding photo.

Then everybody moved to Bourton Hall’s party space The Draycote Bar for dancing.  And there was a fun photobooth with some very popular props that made their way outside.  The wigs, sombreros and summer garlands proved to be very popular.  But the funniest and slightly disturbing sight of a man sitting on another man wearing a horse’s head playing polo on a croquet lawn, definitely won out.  Here, take a look!

After the sun had set, I took Jane and Gareth out to the front lawn to get a fantastic champagne shot (Formula One style) and was thrilled with the images I got.  Now it was dark, guests all headed indoors and the dancefloor really hotted up.  If, at the end of your wedding day, you’re not rocking out on the dancefloor with your tie tied around your head, did you even get married?

A fantastic, fun, family friendly wedding for a simply amazing couple.  Congratulations to Jane and Gareth for getting married and creating such an unforgettable day for all of you.  And thanks for having me there. I loved it!
