Redhouse Barn Wedding photographer - Alex and Steven’s Day

Red House Barn - Early morning start.

On the day, I woke to rain and headed straight over to Redhouse Barn to catch up with the wedding parties.  I found Alex and her bridal party getting ready in Redhouse Barn’s luxury bridal changing area.  The girls were on excellent form, the venue had them practice walking down the aisle which was odd and funny as the girls were putting in some extra moves and poses.  The atmosphere was so fun and there was a little bit of medicinal bubbly to get the party started.  The energy was amazing and I got some great images of Alex, her mum and the bridesmaids.

Steven and his grooms party then arrived all dressed and ready to go and gathered downstairs for drinks.   I got some fun images of the boys having drinks before the ceremony as well as a few images of the barns all dressed and ready for the day.

Alex and Steven were very clear that they wanted a fun and laid-back wedding and the pair of them set the tone for that from the moment they arrived.  The energy at this wedding was amazing!

The ceremony was held in the beautiful Redbrick Barn, that has fantastic floor to ceiling sliding doors that throw tons of light in and provide amazing views of the gardens on one side and direct access to the front courtyard on the other.

Carefree playful Steven who’d been bantering with his friends on the courtyard moments before, entered the Brickbarn and immediately turned into emotional and nervous Steven but had his best man with him to keep him calm.

The ceremony was lovely and included a great moment where the best man pretended that he’d forgotten the rings, then rushed out only to return with Alex and Steven’s dog who was the ring bearer.  The best man acted so well that some of the guests were genuinely worried there were no rings!

After a lovely ceremony that culminated in a roar of applause and confetti, guests enjoyed a drinks and canapes reception that was accompanied by love music and clay pigeon shooting which proved to be really popular with Alex and Steven’s guests.

It was still raining on and off but we hardly noticed thanks to Redbarn House’s fantastic glass structure in their courtyard that kept the rain off whilst allowing guests to be outside.  I got some great candid images of Alex and Steven’s guests enjoying themselves that really suited my style of documentary wedding photography.

Storytelling wedding photography at Redhouse Barn

The wedding breakfast was held in Redhouse Barn’s timber barn, Alex and Steven made quite the entrance dancing in and wearing sunglasses.  Speeches were before food which is always a good idea.  Alex’s dad did a lovely emotional speech, followed by Steven and lastly Steven’s best man who sang a song and of course relayed some embarrassing stories of Steven!

Everybody then enjoyed a delicious wedding breakfast created by the talented team of in-house chefs at Redhouse Barn.  After the meal, Alex and Steven cut the most amazing looking three-tiered wedding cake, and youngest guests enjoyed the first slice!

As it was a long summers day, there was still plenty of hours of daylight so many guests went back outside the enjoy the gardens and grounds of Redhouse Barn.  I took my chance to get some great group images of the wedding party as well as some fun shots of an impromptu game of table tennis.  Alex and Steven’s guests were so lovely to photograph.

For evening celebrations, Alex and Steven had booked a live band and a DJ with a live saxophone player who all proved to be very popular with their guests who were only too happy to dance and sing along.

As the sun began to set, I quickly whisked Alex and Steven outside for a few minutes to get some romantic sunset images of them.  The images I got were perfect.

We then rejoined the party that was in full swing and I got some great dancefloor images.  And with the sun now set and the dancefloor full it was time for me to take my leave.

Alex and Steven’s fun, family friendly wedding was a total joy to capture.  This wedding was a masterclass in how to have a fun laid back wedding. Congratulations to Alex and Steven for getting married and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of it.  I had the best time!
