Blackwell Grange Wedding Photography– Steph and Dan

Blackwell Grange - preferred photography supplier

I always love returning to capture wedding photography at Blackwell Grange.  This exclusive use barn wedding venue is a real favourite of mine.  Steph and Dan chose the perfect location for their late summer wedding.

These two found me on Blackwell Grange’s website, as I’m a preferred supplier, and instantly liked my natural and relaxed style of wedding photography.  This was not the only thing we had in common, we love to travel and in our first meeting when we should have been talking about wedding photography, we spent most of the hour discussing our favourite destinations worldwide.

On the day, Steph got ready at nearby a local Airbnb which was perfect.  Spacious and full of natural light, it made a great location for them to gather and for me to capture those all-important morning of the wedding images.  As always with bridal preparations, the atmosphere was amazing with lots of fun, laughter, storytelling and some cheeky mamosa’s!

With hair and make up done, the bridal party then relocated to Blackwell Grange to get dressed.

Off to Blackwell Grange

Dan arrived shortly before the ceremony and along with his groom’s party looked very smart in a petrol blue three-piece suit.

By now, Steph was ready and looked stunning in a beautiful backless dress with a sweetheart neckline and exquisite lace detail and floaty layers of skirt that gave her a dreamy silhouette in all of my images.  I captured a really special father seeing the bride moment.  Steph’s bridesmaids looked elegant in pale blue dresses.

The wedding ceremony was held in Blackwell Grange’s stunning 16th century thatched barn.  Beautifully restored it still has its original oak barn doors, oak beams on the ceiling and an open fire that Steph and Dan stood in front of to say their vows.

The flowers on the day, most of which were stunning sunflowers were provided by the clever people at Oak & Ivy

After a beautiful ceremony, everybody headed outside for a fun confetti moment before enjoying a drinks and canapes reception.  Despite the weather being overcast it wasn’t raining or cold so many guests stayed outside and I got some great candid images of everybody mingling and enjoying refreshments.  And I also took the chance to get some great group images of the wedding party.

There was a fun groom’s party lifting the bride moment, followed by a groom’s party lifting the groom moment which was more of a struggle but they got there!

The wedding reception was held in the Orchard Barn, a beautiful light contemporary space.  It looked amazing all dressed and ready for the wedding breakfast with tables dressed in crisp white linen and decorated with floral arrangements of sunflowers. Speeches were before food which is always a good idea and were very well received by everybody.

After the meal the weather really picked up so guests spilled back outside. The youngest guests took the chance to run of some steam.  There were garden games for the young, and not so young guests to enjoy and I got some great shots of the action.

Steph and Dan weren’t keen on having many couple shots, but at this point, when the sun was at its lowest creating a soft hazy light, they wandered off for a walk and a moment together.  I always love it when couples choose to step out for a second to just take I the moment like this.  I didn’t want to disturb them so I took some images paparazzi style that I was thrilled with.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a delicious looking naked wedding cake, that stood above a tower of brownies and blondies that had been made by one of the bridesmaids.  It was so original.

This was followed by a romantic first dance for Steph and Dan and with a live band hired, it wasn’t long before their guests joined them on the dancefloor where many remained all night.

Blackwell Grange has an iconic moon gate and it’s a tradition with all weddings at Blackwall Grange that couples are photographed beside it.  So, we waited until the sun had set and got a gorgeous image.  It was the perfect image to close the story of Steph and Dan’s day.

If you’re having your wedding at Blackwell Grange and are looking for an experienced Blackwell Grange wedding photographer to capture your day with beautiful storytelling images, then feel free to get in touch.

I’d love to hear about your wedding plans…
