Bordesley Park Wedding Photography - Capturing Fun and Laughter on Rebecca & Jamie’s Big Day
I first met Rebecca at a previous wedding and quickly realised that she was the life of the party, especially when she started taking selfies with my camera during the reception! I’m a big fan of weddings that centre around humour, fun and energy, so I was delighted to receive her email asking me to photograph her special day. The wedding took place at the exclusive and beautiful Bordesley Park, a spectacular estate with a sprawling manor house and extensive grounds, with all you need to make a wedding day memorable. Bordesley Park wedding photography is a joy to capture, and the happy couple were determined to make the most out of this beautiful venue.
Rebecca and Jamie opted for an outdoor ceremony, with the Orchard Marquee for the reception, giving them somewhat of a blank canvas that they could tailor to their preferences (more on that later!), so I was excited to see what the day would bring.
Morning Bridal Prep - High Energy and High Spirits
The bridal preparation barn at Bordesley Park (yes, a barn!) was the perfect place for the bridal party to have some pre-wedding fun. It provides ample space for even the largest bridal party and great natural light, so I took the opportunity to capture some moments with the very high-spirited bride and her crew amid crazy dancing and non-stop laughter. I also headed to the perfectly put-together groom's room, complete with bar, table football, and pool table. This was the perfect prep space for the guys, with space to relax, struggle with how to work their buttonholes, and go head-to-head with their friends and family on the games. I snapped a few shots of this classic groom's room scene before getting my equipment ready for the ceremony itself.
An Emotional Outdoor Ceremony
As I mentioned, the wedding ceremony itself was held outdoors, (thanks to the venue for their suggestion there!) and thankfully, the weather held up, although I have no doubt Rebecca and Jamie would have embraced the chaos a bit of rain would have brought!
Taking place in the idyllic gardens of Bordesley Park against a backdrop of rolling hills, it was an emotional ceremony. Rebecca and Jamie chose to have a humanist ceremony, which makes everything more personal and engaging. There were moments of laughter during the ceremony and happy tears from the bride and groom, as well as many of the wedding party as they exchanged their vows. I was delighted to have the natural light to work which helped me capture photographs I’m sure Rebecca and Jamie will treasure.
Garden Games and
Having an idea of the focus on fun and relaxation Rebecca and Jamie wanted at their wedding, I anticipated a lot of fun and games at the reception. The happy couple certainly delivered with fairground-style games and plenty of healthy competition! Rebecca even managed to source some space hoppers, which I have no doubt would have been used by the adults had they not popped early on!
Space Hoppers aside, there was plenty of opportunity for fun and games, with Bordesley Park’s grounds playing host to a trampoline and swing, which allowed me to get some great shots of the wedding party, particularly later on when some of the wedding party wanted to relive their childhood!
Rebecca and Jamie didn’t want their reception to run on a strict schedule, so there were plenty of opportunities for me to move around the venue's manicured lawns, capturing some great candid shots among the group photographs.
Speeches at Sunset
The happy couple had opted for speeches before their wedding breakfast, beginning with Rebecca’s mum and son, who left few dry eyes with their touching tributes. Jamie followed up with a speech that had the guests laughing before his best man ended the speeches with some very risque jokes! (I’m still checking whether he made it out of the venue unscathed!)
Once the wedding breakfast ended, the light was perfect for some golden hour wedding photography, and guests headed outside to enjoy the last of the sun. I took the opportunity to take Rebecca and Jamie off for some extra special sunset portraits that I’m sure will take pride of place in their home. With the stunning backdrop, Bordesley Park provides, the resulting images felt almost magical.
Dancing the Night Away
Rebecca had warned me the dance floor would be full, and she wasn’t wrong. Once the wedding party heard the music, it was packed within seconds, with some… let’s say ‘very interesting’ shapes being thrown by all concerned.

Bordesley Park provided the perfect backdrop for Rebecca and Jamie's relaxed and very romantic wedding. The fun-filled grounds and elegant reception areas provided everything the happy couple needed to get the most out of their big day, which I thoroughly enjoyed attending.
