Wood Norton Wedding Photography - Some of my favourite photos from Megan and Beef's Wood Norton wedding day below.
Mr and Mrs Beef ‘Be prepared for tears,’ I said. I didn’t think Megan could hold it together – but what did I know?
To date, I’ve been the wedding photographer for every member of Miss Wright family’s. This was wedding 4 out of 5 and it was amazing to see everyone again. When you do a few weddings within the same family, they almost become like family to you too.
Why is he called Beef? Because he’s big. And into rugby. And beefy! And such a softy too.
Megan and Beef had originally planned their wedding for December 2018, but she became pregnant so they rescheduled. Their 2019 wedding was held at The Wood Norton Hotel in Worcestershire, a really gorgeous venue with awesome grounds and this time, 6-month old Lucy was coming along for the ride.
One of my all-time favourite photos is Megan breastfeeding Lucy while she was getting ready. It’s so natural and so beautiful.
And now for the tears, In all my time as a wedding photographer, I’ve never ever seen a bride cry so much. Megan was an absolute emotional wreck and during the bridal prep she could hardly hold it together. I genuinely thought that every photo of them during the ceremony and afterwards was going to feature Megan with tears rolling down her face.
The ceremony was held outside in the beautiful grounds and I made a point of warning Beef. “Be prepared for tears,” I said. “She’s overwhelmed,” I said. “I hope you’re ready for this,” I said.
So imagine my surprise
Megan started her walk down the aisle and I turned to photograph this special moment, expecting full-on tears, a red nose and puffy eyes. Nothing could have been further from the truth though – she was beaming from ear to ear. In fact, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone looking so radiantly happy. “This is brilliant,” I thought. “It’s going to be amazing.”
I turned to Beef with a big smile – and the big man had broken down. Completely. Sobbing. Into his hanky.
But eventually, he stopped crying and the ceremony was beautiful – I got some amazing shots. It was a gorgeous sunny day, the lavender was in full bloom and the happy couple was … well, overjoyed!
They wanted big, and they wanted spectacular – and their guests weren’t going to be disappointed.
They wanted entertainment and it started at the service. It wasn’t good enough for the best man to hand the rings to Beef – no, they had to get an owl to fly in with the rings and land on the best man so he could take the rings from the bird!
It was an epic moment – especially when the birds of prey were also brought in afterwards by the falconer so everyone could have a stroke. That made for some fabulous photos.
As did Megan wearing my big brown shoes, rather than her own rather dainty white satin ones! We had a beautiful photo shoot in a gazebo in the grounds, but Megan’s feet were killing her. Ever the gent, I offered her my shoes and she wore them back to the venue. (I didn’t wear hers).
It was such a lovely, relaxing wedding day and that shines through in the photos. The relationship between the bride and her maids was great. In fact, the more ‘staged’ photos weren’t actually that staged at all because they all just wanted to have fun.
The wedding breakfast was fun, the speeches were fun – the bride stood up and gave a speech, which was lovely. Apart from Beef starting to cry again…. this was a proper day of emotions, no doubt about it!
And then people started throwing axes, including Megan, The afternoon’s entertainment included axe-throwing and archery. And I got some gorgeous pictures of Megan and Beef in the grounds of Wood Norton where it was clear how happy they were and how much they were moved by the day’s events.
Later, dancing ensued until I found the perfect moment to pull them outside. The night sky was incredible and I really wanted it as a backdrop. We got some awesome photos of them outside – the trees were lit up, and the sky was a beautiful shade of midnight blue.
Most people like fireworks. But Beef is obsessed with them.
They’d organised a display, but this went over and above your average firework display. It was epic. And it was good to end this perfect day with a bang. And another one. Oh, and another.
Congratulations, Mr Beef, Mrs Beef and baby Beef. You’re a fab couple and it really was a special day.
